"It's strong men who we are talking to today, men like my husband and like some of the husbands on this stage, who can deal with a professional woman who makes a lot of money, who is powerful and nurturing because you can be that," Areva shares. "You can be powerful and nurturing at the same time."

 

 

Ianthe, a Dr. Phil producer, joins the discussion. "As Areva said earlier, there are some good guys that are out there, but where are they?" she asks. "Where are these great men who are not intimidated by strong, educated, intelligent, awesome and amazing women?" Dr. Phil introduces Lori Gottlieb, author of Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough. "What do you mean by 'settling'?" he asks.

 

"Women consider 'settling' [to be] less than everything on their checklist. What I'm saying is you should have high standards, and you should fall in love with somebody, and be attracted to them and all of that, but you have to make sure that your standards are things that are going to matter in the long term," she answers.
