26-Year-Old Homeless Alcoholic Would Rather Be With Ex-Con Fiancé Than Her Mother

          September 8, 2016

Kelly says that after her parents divorced when she was 11, her life changed when her once idyllic lifestyle of a big house, ponies and extracurricular activities ended.

“I got very depressed, became truant, only stayed home, stayed in bed,” says the now 26-year-old. “By the time I was 18, I started drinking. There are many days I was drunk the entire day.”

Kelly eventually dropped out of school and wound up a homeless alcoholic.

“There are some weeks where I don’t remember exactly what happened because of the alcohol that I consume,” she says.

In October 2015, Kelly’s mother, Diane, attempted to rescue Kelly because she feared her daughter would end up dead.

“When I saw my mother, I felt like she started emotionally attacking me, like she was judging me hypocritically,” says Kelly.

Kelly, who has been in jail three times in the last three months, is now pregnant and engaged to an ex-con, Robert, who has been in jail eight times.

“I stay with Robert because I love him for all the times that he’s been there for me,” says Kelly, who lives in a motel with Robert. “I would rather be homeless than live with my mother and do things her way.”

Is Kelly still drinking while pregnant? Is she ready to make a change for the sake of her baby? On Thursday’s episode of Dr. Phil, Dr. Phil offers her and Robert a wake-up call. Check here to see where you can watch.
