Sandra, who was engaged in a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband, Joey, had been accused of coaching her daughters to lie about their father allegedly being sexually inappropriate with them. Joey, and Sandra’s neighbor Linda, have also accused Sandra of not properly caring for her 7- and 9-year-old daughters.
Sandra vehemently denies the accusations and says she’s a good mother. She even agreed to take a polygraph test to demonstrate that she was not coaching the girls. But after two attempts to take a polygraph and no test taken, Dr. Phil questions if Sandra is really being sincere in her efforts.
“I don’t think you’re taking this seriously. I don’t think you’ve been forthcoming with me out here. I think there are some things that you’re spinning to your best interest, and I don’t think you have your children’s best interest at heart,” Dr. Phil tells Sandra. “I think you’re more interested in your image instead of your children’s future.”
Dr. Phil points out that Sandra has been offered professional help and has failed to take it, and she has not taken any parenting courses as instructed by the court.
“Are you doing the things necessary to change your position, to change your coping skills, to change your parenting skills, to change your level of mental and emotional adjustment?" Dr. Phil asks. "The bottom line is no, no and no … And talk is cheap and actions speak much louder than words.”
In the video above, Dr. Phil warns Sandra that her children might suffer if she refuses to take a hard look at herself, and that makes him concerned for their safety.
