Pat claims his father, John, is delusional, violent, paranoid and so dangerous that Pat sleeps on the couch in his living room to protect his wife and two children in the event that John comes to the house to harm them.
“I’m terrified of my father,” Pat says. “My dad is completely delusional. He makes up some of the most irrational stories you could imagine.”

Pat and his wife, Sarah, also say that John overreacts to seemingly innocent events, including claiming that a thank you letter from his grandson contained a death threat. They claim that any time they try and talk with John, he gets very confrontational.
John denies their accusations and says his daughter-in-law is to blame for stealing his son, filling his head with evil and turning Pat against him -- and that he is actually afraid of his son and what he calls his violent past.
Recently, Pat said he delivered a set of flow charts to his parents’ house in an effort to explain how his father’s behavior affects his whole family. In the video above, he explains the charts and why he says it was the only way to communicate with his father.
On Monday’s episode, Dr. Phil attempts to bridge the gap between father and son and bring this whole family together. Watch more here.
