Amber, a 24-year-old mother of three, has had two DUIs and does not have a valid license, but she explains that she still drives because she has to do “what I have to do to survive.”
In the video above, Dr. Phil questions Amber about some of her behavior.
“You say, ‘I’m driving without a license, just because I don’t have that little card,’” Dr. Phil says to Amber. “That little card is a license. That’s the law, and to operate a motor vehicle with a suspended license pursuant to two DUIs is a felony.”
“I get that,” she says.
“That doesn’t seem like responsible behavior for a mother,” Dr. Phil says. “[Your parents] said you had two DUIs, and you told us adamantly you only had one.”
“I thought I only had one,” Amber says.
“How do you forget a DUI?” Dr. Phil asks.
“I don’t know,” she says. “Obviously, I just got the second one, so that would be two then. Great. Yes, sir. Thanks for reminding me. Now I have two.”
“You’ve had two,” Dr. Phil points out.
“I get that, but I kind of put that off in my head for a little while. I don’t want to think about that right now,” Amber says.
After speaking with Dr. Phil, will Amber, who currently does not have custody of her children, reevaluate her behavior and accept the help he offers? This episode, “My Family Thinks I’m Crazy, But I Think They’re Crazy!” airs Friday. Check here to see where you can watch.
