          Self-Proclaimed ‘Fat Guy’ Eric Defends Himself Against Critics Who Say He’s Scamming America

          Self-proclaimed “Fat Guy” Eric was 560 lbs. and unhappy with his weight, so he says he decided to do something unexpected – embark upon an epic bike ride across America. He says he ventured on his cross-country journey to lose weight, write a book about his experience and rescue his failing relationship with his wife.

          With very little money to his name, Eric says he started an online fundraising campaign to support his coast-to-coast ride. His mission soon went viral and people started donating to help him pay for equipment and travel expenses.

          But there are some naysayers who call Eric a “digital panhandler” and say he is scamming America into giving him a free vacation across the country.
