Young Mom Apologizes For Badmouthing Woman Who Adopted Her Child

          July 19, 2016

Olivia, 22, claims that her newborn daughter, Evelyn, was taken away from her illegally and placed for adoption seven years ago. She claims Jyllian, the woman who adopted Evelyn, promised to provide her with pictures of the little girl and the opportunity to be a part of her life, but Olivia says she hasn’t done either.

Jyllian adamantly denies making any such promises to Olivia.

Olivia claims she’s been fighting to see her daughter for the last five years and Jyllian has ignored her attempts to make contact. She says that after searching for Jyllian online and finding pictures of her that she claims to be ‘provocative,’ she admits she made some inappropriate comments about Jyllian on social media.

After speaking with Dr. Phil and hearing from Jyllian, fighting back tears, Olivia says, “I just want to say I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m hurt and I miss my daughter so much, and I’m sorry for everything I’ve said. And you don’t have to let her see me, but please let her see my family.”

In the video above, Dr. Phil offers advice to the young mom.

“If you come to me and you say, ‘How can I get the most of what I want?’ I look at it from a pragmatic standpoint,” he says, explaining that the chances of an adoption being overturned after five years are very unlikely. “What could I get you if not flip the adoption? We could get you in the child’s life where she could wrap her little arms around your neck, where you could be there for the big things in her life, where you could have all of those things. Wouldn’t that be a giant step forward?” But he says that may only happen if Olivia and her family tone down their rhetoric regarding Jyllian.
