Childhood obesity is rising at an alarming rate, and many kids are starting to exhibit adult diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease.
If you suspect your child is on the road to obesity, heed the following 10 warning signs:
4. Unbalanced Diet
1. Snoring If your child snores, this can be a sign of extra fat in the neck.
2. Lack of Exercise Does your child get less than one hour of physical activity per day?
3. Too Much Screen Time Does your child get more than an hour a day of “screen time” (video games, watching TV, computer)?
7. Overweight Parents
If you or your spouse are overweight, your child has a high risk of becoming obese.
8. Improper Diet
Is your child allowed to snack on unhealthy items in between meals?
Offering second and third helpings at mealtime will teach your child to overeat.
10. Unhealthy Beverages
Does your child drink soda or juice instead of water?
If you are concerned about your son or daughter's weight gain, consult your pediatrician or nutritionist.
