Dr. Phil's Assessing Your Stress Test

Dr. Phil says you can't change what you don't acknowledge. The following test, adapted from his new book Real Life: Preparing for the 7 Most Challenging Days of Your Life, will help you evaluate how much stress you're experiencing. Take some time to honestly answer each of the questions below.

 
1. How often do you feel that you are not coping with the demands put on you?
  

 
2. Do you have problems going to sleep and/or staying asleep?
  

 
3. Do you find yourself withdrawing from friends, family and colleagues?

 
4. Do you feel you are working harder but getting less done?
  

 
5. Do you find yourself afraid to make decisions?
  

 
6. Are you feeling anxious?
  

 
7. Are you feeling tense?
  

 
8. Are you feeling nervous?
  

 
9. Are you jumpy and unable to relax?
  

 
10. Do you feel hostile and become angry about minor things?
  

 
11. Do you blame others for everything?
  

 
12. Are you critical of others' efforts?
  

 
13. Are other family members having stress problems, and do you think that you might be responsible for them?
  

 
14. Are you having fewer conversations about stress issues with family and friends?
  

 
15. Are you having fights about "everything and nothing"?
  

 
16. Are you sharing fewer satisfactions with family and friends?
  

 
17. Are you aware that you're experiencing stress, and it is affecting your life?
