When Nadya Suleman, a single mother of six children, gave birth to the second-only set of octuplets recorded in the U.S., the country was abuzz: How will she care for 14 babies? Where will the children be while she pursues her education? How will she find transportation for her brood?
Dr. Phil sat down with the well-known mom in an exclusive daytime interview to get the facts straight, and to shed light on a situation that has polarized the nation. “I find this woman to be very likeable. This is not an evil woman. She doesn’t know what she doesn’t know. She took a chance, which I think she did in concert with her doctor, and I think you’ve got to look really hard at the decision-making of that professional to do that implantation,” he says after his meeting. “It is such a one-in-a-million shot that you would have octuplets from that kind of in-vitro fertilization, even with six embryos. I don’t think that was her intention.”
