
"I don't know what I want right now," she says. "When it gets down to the part when I'm done ... he suddenly steps in and those are the little glimmers of hope. Then it gets back to where it was and I end up feeling angry and frustrated again."
"If you weren't married to Marty today, do you believe you would marry him?" Dr. Phil asks Erin.

"Aren't you tired?" he asks.
"I'm very tired," Erin says through tears.
"What would it be like if something happened and the man in your life said, 'Relax, I got it'?" Dr. Phil asks Erin.
"That would be a huge weight off my shoulders," she replies.

"If my wife would let me," he says.
Dr. Phil explains to Marty that he has the ability to initiate a supportive role in his marriage " he does not need to wait for Erin to ask for it. "Leaders inspire," he says. "They aren't assigned leadership. They command it."
He continues, "You've got to wake up every single morning and say, 'I'm going to do everything I can to make this marriage better whether she lets me or not.' ... Marriage is not 50/50. Marriage is 100/100."
