Banned from the Wedding: Jay's Family

"Michelle seems like a hateful bitch," says Jay's aunt, Gail. "It's just venom all the time."

"I don't know the full workings of her little mind," says Jay's uncle, David. "Michelle has shown an incredible lack of respect, and Jay has gone right along with that."

"I've already resigned my position as best man," says Jay's cousin, Jesse. "The last thing I want is to be a part of that wedding, where everybody is going to be around all that crap."

"I'm not going to plead with my family to come to the wedding," Jay says. "That is their choice, and I'll have to deal with it."

"Jay is not stepping in and telling Michelle, ‘This is my mom,'" David says. "He doesn't have the balls to do it. That's why. He's willing to sacrifice his mother to avoid offending Michelle."

"I don't think that Jay knows what he's getting into, marrying this girl," Gail says.

"Michelle had sent Jane things like, ‘You're never going to be in our lives. You're not going to even see your grandchildren. We want you to stay out of our lives,'" David says.

"‘Why is she saying these things and why does she do these things?' I said, ‘Janey, she's evil! She's trying to do this to hurt you,'" Gail says.

Jay tells Dr. Phil his frustrations with his mother. "She's never once been able to come and just say, ‘You know what? I'm really sorry I said that.' Her whole thing has been ‘Well, I didn't mean it that way. You took it wrong,'" he says. "She's told us that she's jealous of my relationship with Michelle."

"You are so lying," Jane says.

"Stop. Let me finish. I have not interrupted you once," Jay tells her. "She has said that, on the phone. It's always been a direct attack on [Michelle] and that I'm just her little puppet."

Dr. Phil turns to Gail, who joins the conversation on stage. "Gail, what do you want to say?"

"I can't even look at him," she says. "He is not even my nephew. He is like a totally different person."

"Is there anybody here who's trying to calm this situation down?" Dr. Phil asks his guests. He turns back to Gail. "This is a quote from you: Michelle is a bitch. Michelle seems like a hateful bitch. Nobody acts like Michelle unless you're a stark raving bitch.'"

"Nobody acts like that!" Gail maintains.

"Does anybody get that this whole thing, that everybody is getting in the gutter with this, with name-calling " "

"With them," Gail says. "We're getting in the gutter with them."

"Why? You are the adult!"

"Because we've given up!" Jane says.

"When the hate mail just keeps coming, day after day, and sometimes more than one in a day, and the language she uses," Gail explains.

"I turned my back on it," Jane says. "I tried not to respond, and it just keeps coming and just keeps coming." She explains the last angry e-mail she received was after she forwarded some of Jay's mail.

"We told you not to send anything to our house," Michelle says. "Do not send a package."

"She sends me hate mail because I forwarded mail to my son!" Jane says she debated for two weeks about whether to return it to sender or forward it on. "Unlike you, I do try to do the right thing. And I ultimately decided it should go to my son."

"I think the only reason she did it was to let her presence be known, ‘I'm still here. I'm still going to send stuff,'" Michelle says.
