DP Family Returns: A Marriage in Question: future

The Future of Their Marriage
"When Dr. Phil says something to Marty, Marty hears that. I could say it all day long, and he's not going to hear me, so I am thankful Dr. Phil talked about these things, and I think it's kind of given Marty a little bit of a wake-up call, and I hope it takes it to heart and makes some changes," Erin says.

"When Erin brought out the divorce thing, I was kind of like, ‘Wow. That's kind of off the wall.' It was a shock for me. It really was," Marty shares.

"Marty can be really abusive, verbally. He'll make references to the affair I had, and he'll say, ‘Why don't you just go and be with so and so,'" Erin says. "If that were the case, I'd be with that person now, and I'm not."

"I'm not the easiest guy to live with, and I guess I've just taken some of that negative energy and just kind of thrown it back at her," Marty admits.

[AD]"I was hoping Dr. Phil was going to give me an exit plan. Instead, he shut the door and barricaded it," Erin reveals. "I guess I'm going to take a wait-and-see sort of attitude. I've emotionally checked out of this marriage awhile back, and for me to come back in is going to be really hard. Right now, I'm really not feeling anything but, maybe, apprehension and concern, like, ‘OK, he wants me to stay here.' This could get scary."

"Erin and I will always be married. It's a feeling I have. I know my wife after 24 years," Marty says. "I just hope in the end that the grandkids end up where they're supposed to be, and that my kids wake up one day and say, ‘Mom and Dad were right.'"
