Keeping Shelters Open and Victims Safe

Congresswoman Gwen Moore greets Dr. Phil and explains, "The Family Violence and Prevention Services Act, commonly called FVPSA, provides advocacy services, provides the counseling services, so that women can develop exit strategies that are safe, provides them with legal services. And this Family Violence and Prevention Services Act is due to be reauthorized. And we're also asking for major updates, so that we can meet the needs of women currently."

Dr. Phil asks how he can help.

"I'm hoping that you'll use your network to get your viewers to call their members of Congress, to write their members of Congress, let them know how important it is to vote for HR 4116, the reauthorization of FVPSA," she says.

"This hearing will be coming up sometime in the fall. Just know that I am spring-loaded for when that happens," Dr. Phil tells her.

"You've done a great deal already just by breaking the silence. And we would love you to give your expert testimony, Dr. Phil."

[AD]"I will be there with bells on, and I won't mince words about how important this is," he says.
