Teen Weight Loss Challenge: Andrew, Jenee, Caitlin

Inspirational Teens
Andrew, 16, has lost 102 pounds.
Andrew, 16, weighed 275 pounds when he started to read Jay's Ultimate Weight Solution For Teens. He's since lost 102 pounds, and gone from a size 42 to a 32.

He recalls how difficult it was to be overweight, especially as a younger child. "When I was in middle school, I was teased. They called me 'fat' and 'fat ass.' In gym class, I would always go into the bathroom to change because I was embarrassed having breasts bigger than the girls," he says. "I definitely felt like a prisoner of my own fat."

Andrew says that Jay's book had a powerful impact on him because it felt like Jay was practically speaking to him. "My eating habits changed almost immediately," he says. "The no-fail environment was one of the most important keys to my success. My mom and I cleared out all the cabinets and we put healthy foods in there."

He's also made exercise a priority, admitting that what he once considered "torture" is now actually "fun."

Thanking Dr. Phil and Jay, he says, "I feel like a whole new person."

"You said that food, for you, was like breathing," Dr. Phil says. "Tell me what you mean by that."

Andrew explains, "I'd always have food in my hands. Every activity that I did, whether it was going to a basketball game or just doing my homework, I had to have food."

Whereas Andrew was once ridiculed for being overweight, he now says he feels like "one of the boys."

"I'm really proud of what you've done, and losing this weight is reward enough in itself," says Jay, "but we wanted to do something special." Jay surprises Andrew, who loves to play guitar, with a $1,000 gift certificate to The Guitar Center, which is Jordan McGraw's favorite guitar store.
Nineteen-year-old Jenee has lost 80 pounds by following Jay's plan for four months. She's gone from a size 20 to a size 8, and has lost 23 inches in her waist. "I just want to tell all the teens out there that if I can do it, anyone can," she says.

"The biggest part of my weight gain was the feeling of rejection," says Jenee, who lived in a girls' home until she recently started college. "I would say to myself that I was disgusting and ugly. People would ask if I was pregnant."

Jenee is now committed to exercise, so much so that she gets up at 4 a.m. to work out. "It's now part of my everyday routine that I love," she says. Her diet has also changed. "Before, I used to eat pizza, donuts, cake, cookies, chips, anything that was sweet or greasy. Now I eat skinless, boneless chicken breast and brown rice and salad."

She thanks Jay for changing her life, saying confidently, "I am never going to be over 200 pounds again."

Moved to tears, Jenee thanks Jay for writing the book and changing her life.

To help her buy a new wardrobe for her new body, Jay offers Jenee a $500 gift certificate to Foley's and to the Fashion Bug, two clothing stores in her Oklahoma town.

Both Andrew and Jenee also receive a membership to Gold's Gym, along with a Circuit City gift basket that includes a two-way radio, digital camera, and an MP3 player.

Then, Andrew and Jenee get some words of inspiration from Weight Loss Challengers Jim and Thomas. "Personally, I wasted my teen years, my 20s and well into my 30s being overweight," says Jim. "[Andrew] just bought his whole life back at 16 years old. It's an unbelievable story."

Thomas adds, "If ever I'm starting to fall back, I want you to send one of these guys to help me."

Sixteen-year-old Caitlin has lost 45 pounds in a month and a half by mastering Jay's seven keys.

"The shocking thing to most people about my weight loss is that I'm not on any diet pill, I'm not star

ving myself, and I didn't have gastric bypass surgery," she says. "I'm doing it all with the motivation of myself, with the help of Jay and Dr. Phil.

None of the seven keys was even that difficult for her, she says. She's doing 90 minutes of cardiovascular exercise every day, and has changed her diet to include high-response cost, high-yield foods.
