Ultimate Family Weight Loss Challenge, Part 2
Dr. Phil checks in with the two families competing in the Ultimate Family Weight Loss Challenge.

To get the families moving, Gold's Gym is giving both families a one-year membership and two personal trainers. Robert Reames makes a visit to Gold's to help the families select their trainers.

"My job is to pick the best out of the four trainers that have been presented today," he says. Each family will get two trainers; one for the parents and one for the kids. Robert meets individually with them to discuss their training techniques. He chooses Troy to train Jake and Luke, and Caithlin to train Pennie and Vic. For the Halls, he chooses Aaron to work with Kim and Larry and Will to work with Dayle and Grace. The families meet their trainers and begin the workouts.

"Both of you families have said that you thought getting into the rhythm of the intentional exercise was one of, if not the hardest thing to do," Dr. Phil says.
Vic, who has not exercised in 25 years, agrees. "It was very difficult to get started back again," he says.
Dr. Phil asks the Halls why it was hard for them to exercise.
"Making it fit into our schedule. Making it a priority," Kim says.
Larry agrees with Vic. "Some people spend years toning their muscles. I spent years marbling them," he says.
"Once you get to the gym, how does it feel when you're there and you're working out?" Dr. Phil asks.
"You have pride, you have ambition about where you're going," Pennie says. "You look in the mirror and three weeks after you're working out, you look better and you know you do."
After the last show, the families started the Rapid Start Program, a step-by-step eating plan for 14 days. Dr. Phil asks the families if it was hard or easy for them to follow.
"It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be," Kim says. "It took some time, but we've enjoyed it overall."
Larry agrees. "Eating the food has been great. It's the preparation [that's hard]."
Pennie says that her family likes the Black Eyed Peas and Chards and the Black Bean Chile recipes from the Ultimate Weight Solution Cookbook.
Dr. Phil points out that Luke works at Blockbuster and is surrounded by popcorn, candy and junk food while he is there. "That's not a safe environment. Would you agree?" he asks to Luke.
"Yeah," Luke replies.
"And by the way, you don't work at Blockbuster anymore," Dr. Phil tells him. "You now work at Gold's Gym." He explains that he has talked to the people at Gold's Gym and they are ready for Luke to start working when he gets home.
Dr. Phil reveals this week's winner. The Penningtons have lost more pounds than the Halls, but they have more to lose, and the Halls are actually 2.1 percent closer to their weight loss goal.

"So the winner is the Halls!" Dr. Phil announces, and tells them their prize. "Knowing that we're coming up to the holiday season, we have arranged a $4,000 shopping spree at the Mall of America." It is the nation's largest retail and entertainment complex. The prize also includes roundtrip airfare and hotel.
