Ultimate Family Weight Loss Challenge, Part 2

Ultimate Family Weight Loss Challenge, Part 2
Dr. Phil checks in with the two families competing in the Ultimate Family Weight Loss Challenge.
Since coming on the show, both families have made major changes to their lifestyles.
"'Falling apart' are exactly the words I used with Dr. Phil and I got chastised for that. Dr. Phil said, 'You're not old. You're not falling apart, we can repair this.' He's right," Vic explains.
When the Penningtons returned home, they started the 14-day Rapid Start Program. "Getting the portion size down has been probably the hardest thing," says Pennie. "Since we've started, I have seen Luke get this spring in his step that I haven't seen since he was 5 years old. It's so wonderful to see. It gives me hope."
"Whenever I saw myself on the plasma screens in the Dr. Phil studio, I knew I had to change. If I didn't change, I was going to die," admits Luke.
"My biggest light bulb moment on the Dr. Phil show was when he said, 'You come last on the list, don't you?'" says Kim, who now takes more time for herself, including preparing healthy food for the family. "We are filling up on good healthy food and it sustains us through to the next time we can eat. We also take the time to go and exercise. Never in the past would we have exercised as a family."

Kim and Larry's daughter, Grace, also notices changes with her family and herself. "We've typically been eating more at the table together as a family instead of sitting around watching TV," she says. "I feel better about myself. I look in the mirror and I'm like, 'Oh yeah, I have lost a little bit of weight."

Grace's older sister, Dayle, explains, "Being on the show helped me realize it's not just about the weight, it's about being healthy."

Larry is surprised that his daughters enjoy going to the gym. "I'm looking forward to seeing how my daughters continue with their lives much healthier than Kim and I have," he says."It looks like our families have been working hard so far, but the real test comes when they step on that scale," says Dr. Phil. The teams weigh in and see their progress. The team that wins this week will get a huge prize, but first Dr. Phil continues his work with them before the winner is announced.
