“There’s always a question about what you tell kids and when you tell them,” Dr. Phil says. “I’ve got two rules about kids: You never ask them to deal with things they can’t control, and you never ask them to deal with adult issues.” TELL DR. He explains that oftentimes when a child grows up in a one-parent home or if they are adopted, questions will arise, and parents should answer the children truthfully.
“When children start to become inquisitive, when they start asking questions, that’s the time that you start telling the truth. That’s the time that you sit down with complete transparency,” Dr. Phil says.
