          The Dark Side of Teens

          December 09, 2003

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for teenagers in America. Dr. Phil sits down with teens, parents and educators in a bold effort to break the cycle of teenage hopelessness and save young lives.

          A Deadly Pact
After a tragic accident claimed the lives of three high school students, another classmate took his own life. Parents and authorities soon got word that nine other students were involved in a suicide pact. Christina, 14, and her peers will never be the same.

          Are schools doing enough?

          Bullied to Death
Sixteen-year-old Nick has been bullied by his peers for as long as he can remember. He has taken the abuse for years, but recently the cruelty has driven him to thoughts of taking his own life.

          He confronts his classmates.

          Turning Sorrow into Support
When a young man named Jed took his life as a college sophomore, several of his friends and family members turned their grief into good by creating the Jed Foundation, a service to assist troubled teens and young adults.

          Learn about the Jed Foundation.

If you or someone you know is a young adult suffering from depression or general hopelessness, check out, an extension of the Jed Foundation, for advice and guidance.
