“I feel like the past couple years have been a pain in the ass because I feel like my parents just want me to be perfect,” says 15-year-old Dawson.

The teen says he wants his parents to understand that he’s not the same person he was as a child, and he just wants the freedom to do what he enjoys: smoking pot, carrying a gun and hanging out in the streets.

“I don’t consider myself a thug. I don’t feel like I’m a gangster. What I am is just a chill person,” Dawson says. “I feel like my parents are making a way bigger deal out of all this than it really is.”

Dawson has run away and says he doesn’t want to live at home. “My parents are so strict with me, it’s going to eventually turn around and bite them in the ass,” he says. “My parents need to get off my back because I know what I’m doing, and I don’t need help at this point.”
