Twenty-one-year-old Julia Wendell says she believes she is Madeleine McCann, a child who disappeared from a Portugal resort in 2007.

“About a year ago, I started to make research on [the] internet because I started to think that maybe I’m [a] missing child,” says Wendell, who is Polish. “I felt in my life that something is wrong here because my mother didn’t hug me, didn’t say I love you. It was a little suspicious to me.”

Wendell claims she asked her mother questions but didn’t get answers. She claims that when she started wondering if she was McCann, she contacted the Polish and English embassies, but no one would answer her calls. However, Wendell’s parents in Poland deny she is Madeleine McCann and insist she is their biological child.

“I decided to create this Instagram and try to use the power of social media,” Wendell says.
