Lauren and Julio say they were ready to adopt a child when an encounter with an imposter who promised they could adopt the twins she claimed to be pregnant with had them on an emotional rollercoaster.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Terrible lies?

Gabby, a 24-year-old woman with multiple health concerns and emotional challenges, says she was that imposter and admits she’s been duping couples for years. She apologizes, “to everyone that I’ve hurt,” and says she did it because she’s jealous that she can’t have a child of her own – and because it gave her someone to talk to.

When Dr. Phil asks her if she can further explain her feelings and behaviors, Gabby announces, “I don’t know, but I’m done,” then abruptly leaves the stage.

“I feel bad for her,” says Lauren. “I don’t want her to feel like she’s in prison in her own mind.”

Julio says, “She needs help. It’s obvious. If nothing else, I just want her to be able to work through this – whatever she’s going through.”

And later, find out who else among Gabby’s victims is expressing concern for her wellbeing, and why.
