Ask The Doctors With Dr. Phil and Dr. Freda Lewis-Hall
Have you ever wondered how to protect your children from illness at school?
“As a mother, I too had the same fears when my three children started school,” says Dr. Lewis-Hall. “But as a doctor, I knew the first step to preventing illness was to make sure my children received their vaccinations.”
She says the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends an immunization schedule for children that helps protect against 14 diseases including measles and whooping cough.
“These diseases were once thought to be largely under control, but now they are resurfacing due to lack of vaccinations.”
She also tackles the question:
Can working long hours negatively impact your health?
“If your job is cutting into your normal sleep, you may be putting yourself at risk,” says Dr. Lewis-Hall.
“Lack of sleep is associated with long-term health consequences, including diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and heart disease as well as depression, anxiety, and mental distress.”
