Austin says his mother, Shannon, is constantly posting videos on social media that he claims are “aggressive” and showcase bullying behaviors. “Her favorite – and only – thing to post about is politics,” he says. “If you disagree with anything my mom has to say, she will come at you with full force.”

Shannon says she has “super strong opinions” about how the country is being run. She denies bullying anyone but admits she has had four accounts suspended “for bullying, harassment, and hate speech.”

“I think it’s ridiculous. Community guidelines are stupid,” says Shannon, adding, “I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong.”

Shannon claims she is exercising her First Amendment rights, but Austin says her online behaviors are affecting their relationship. Can they work through their differences?

This episode of Dr. Phil, “Parents Obsessed with Social Media,” airs Monday. And later, Dr. Phil talks to Anya, Shannon’s former best friend of two decades. Why does Anya say they haven’t spoken in three years? Plus, hear from Dr. Shefali Tsabary, a clinical psychologist and author of “The Parenting Map: Step-by-Step Solutions to Consciously Create the Ultimate Parent-Child Relationship.”
