Carl says that 20 years ago, his 16-year-old daughter was killed in a car accident, and that started him in a downward spiral.

“That hit me extremely hard. I was just inconsolable,” the father says. “When my daughter passed away, I started taking pain medication much more than I needed it.”

Carl says that since then, his health has declined dramatically. The former firefighter EMT claims he has been diagnosed with two types of cancer, has suffered numerous heart attacks close together and that his liver is “shot.” However, his three other daughters claim their father is a manipulator, liar, has extreme Munchausen syndrome and is not as sick as he pretends.

“You have no evidence that you have cancer. You didn’t have four heart attacks four days in a row,” Dr. Phil says to Carl on Monday’s episode. “You’ve just built this up in your mind, and there’s a reason for it. And you’ve got to figure out what that reason is.”
