Alexis and Amanda’s two small children were recently taken out of their custody and placed in the care of Amanda’s mother, Anna Lisa, by Child Protective Services. The couple, who has been together nearly a decade, claims they are “wonderful parents” whose children were “stolen” from them and insist their kids should be returned to them “immediately.”

Claiming that Alexis is abusive toward Amanda, Anna Lisa says she doesn’t believe her grandchildren should leave her care until Amanda breaks up with Alexis for good. The pair adamantly denies Anna Lisa’s allegations of abuse but admits their arguments do sometimes turn physical.

“I know I need to learn how to de-escalate a lot of situations, it’s just – I don’t know how,” says Alexis in part one of this two-part episode.

Amanda says she feels like she has some coping tools, but admits that when she’s angry, “it’s hard for me to walk away.”
