Dad And Stepmom Of Missing Teen Karlie Gusé Explain Why They Didn’t Share A Recording Of Their Daughter’s Last Night At Home With ‘Dr. Phil’ Producers Karlie Gusé, 16 disappeared from her home in Mono County California on October 13, 2018, between 5:45 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Her stepmother, Melissa, says Karlie had been out with friends the night before, and when she called for a ride home, she seemed “scared” and “acted paranoid.”

Melissa says Karlie admitted to smoking marijuana. She says she made an audio recording so that her stepdaughter could hear what she sounded like on drugs. “Like a life lesson,” she says.

After the teen went missing, Melissa says she shared the recording with Karlie’s mother, Lindsay. “She blasted on social media that Karlie was begging for me to call 9-1-1, which is not true,” she says.

“I wanted to hear that tape, but you didn’t let us hear that tape,” says Dr. Phil to Melissa and Karlie’s father, Zac, in the video above.
