In June 2019, Cynthia Hoffman was allegedly lured into the Alaskan woods by her reported best friend, Denali Brehmer, and then convinced to join Brehmer and a group of young men in a “duct tape game.”

“My daughter, she just wanted to have friends. She just wanted to have fun,” he says of Cynthia, who had a slight disability. “My daughter would have went along with [the duct tape game], trusted Denali, because to her, it would have been funny, until she got her mouth duct-taped and her hands duct-taped.”
