Howard claims that his 28-year-old son, Devan, spends his days smoking marijuana and playing video games and that he has “zero direction” in his life.

“Financially, I have always taken care of Devan,” says Howard, claiming that he has spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years on cars for Devan, paying his rent, and bailing him out of jail while his son figures out what he wants to do.

“It frustrates the heck out of me to see him not want to do it for himself,” he says.

Howard admits he only recently cut Devan off financially after learning his son owed over $3,000 in back rent. How does He respond when Dr. Phil asks, “Why do you think that your son is not living like an adult?”

And later, Dr. Phil introduces Devan to personal development coach Mike Bayer. Does Devan say he’s ready to make a change?
