Death Row Inmate Has A Kind Of Grace That ‘Defies The Imagination,’ Says Innocence Project Founding Board Member
Richard Glossip has been on death row for the past 23 years. He claims he was wrongly convicted of first-degree murder and innocent of the charge that he hired his co-worker Justin Sneed to kill their then-boss, Oklahoma City motel owner Barry Van Treese, in 1997. Sneed admitted to killing Van Treese and was sentenced to life.
Glossip has been granted a stay of execution on three separate occasions. His last stay of execution was in 2015 due to concerns about the state of Oklahoma's lethal injection protocol. His attorney Don Knight says critical new information could prove Richard Glossip innocent, but time is running out.
