Months after 16-year-old Karlie Gusé vanished from her home in rural Mono County, California, family members, private investigators and law enforcement are still searching for clues to her whereabouts.

Karlie’s father, Zac, and stepmother, Melissa, claim the teen was behaving strangely on the night before her disappearance. They say Karlie admitted to smoking marijuana, but also suspect there may have been another substance as well.

Melissa recorded audio of Karlie that evening and says she did it because she wanted the teen to hear what she sounded like on drugs.

After listening to the recording, Dr. Phil tells Zac and Melissa, “Because of her degree of paranoia, it makes perfect sense to me that she would flee.”

Continuing, Dr. Phil says, “The bad news is, she might well have been picked up. And the good news is, they’re not usually picked up to be killed.”
