Geraldine was married and mom to three young boys when she became pregnant with another man’s baby and moved across the country to start a new life. She left her three sons but they say although she promised to visit and that they would one day be a family again, she never followed through, leaving them feeling she abandoned them.

In the video above, Dr. Phil reviews some of the excuses Geraldine’s sons say she gave as to why she couldn’t see them more often, including that she was in an troubled marriage, she suffered from health issues and that money was tight.

“I never promised anything so I can’t even call it broken promises. It was more of broken follow-throughs,” Geraldine says.

“These young men, at a time when they were vulnerable, at a time when they’re asking themselves, ‘What’s wrong with me that my mother, my own mother doesn’t want to be with me?’ and they get these messages, ‘Hey, your Christmas presents are in the mail, but the mail lost them.’ ‘I was going to come but something happened.’ I mean, just time and time again they feel that you’ve played them for the fool,” Dr. Phil tells her.

Geraldine says it’s been 25 years and it’s time her sons get over the past so she can have a relationship with her grandchildren. But her sons say they can’t have a relationship with their mom until she admits to her behavior and apologizes, without making excuses. Check here to see where you can watch Tuesday's episode.
