Dr. Phil Says Avoid Confrontation With Children, But If You Can’t, ‘Don’t Ever Lose’
“I believe this about parenting: I think we should avoid confrontation with our children at every possible turn,” Dr. Phil says. “But if you cannot, do not ever lose, not one time, not ever. Because when you do, you’re working for them.”
On Friday’s episode, he speaks with Maribeth and John who say their 15-year-old daughter lies, steals, skips school, has run away, and has stolen their car and taken it for a joyride in the middle of the night.

In the video above, he warns the parents that her behavior is criminal and that they could be liable if she harms someone – so they need to be firmer in disciplining her, even if it means calling the police.
