Dr. Phil Tells Woman She’s Right To Protect Her Kids From Alcoholic Grandma: ‘She is Toxic, And She is Dangerous’

          February 1, 2017

Kristin says her mother, Marna’s, alcoholism and attention seeking behaviors ruined her childhood and continue to disrupt the family even now. She says she cut Marna out of her life three months ago. On Friday’s episode of Dr. Phil, Marna admits she’s a chronic alcoholic who also abuses prescription drugs. She says she’s been arrested for multiple DUIs; served a year in prison for embezzling from an employer, lied to her daughter, Kristin, and most recently – stole from her own fiancé to keep up the deception that she was working.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Huge family drama?

“You are right to protect yourself, and your children from this woman at this level of adjustment,” Dr. Phil tells Kristin in the video above. “She is toxic, and she is dangerous. Her judgment is impaired.”

When Dr. Phil introduces Marna to T.J. Howard, Corporate Director of Origins Behavioral Healthcare Center, he says, “I’m going to give you an opportunity to get yourself straightened up.” The facility specializes in dual diagnoses and treatment plans.

Is Marna ready to lean in to recovery? Tune in to Friday’s Dr. Phil.
