Chris Vaughn was convicted of murdering his wife and three children in their SUV in 2012 and is now serving four life sentences. His parents, Gail and Pierre, claim their son is innocent. Private investigator Bill Clutter has been investigating the case for 14 years and says that with new information provided by Vaughn and after doing a reenactment of what he believes occurred inside the SUV, he, too, believes Vaughn is innocent.
However, former Assistant State’s Attorney Chris Regis says Vaughn has had 10 years to come up with a story of what happened that tragic morning and that he is where he belongs, in jail. Regis also explains that there were over 600 pieces of evidence admitted at the trial and almost 90 witnesses who testified. Regis further explains that the claims presented by Chris Vaughn’s advocates are nothing new, but just bits and pieces of what was presented in the trial overall. In the video above, Regis responds to Clutter’s theory. And, he discusses Vaughn’s demeanor in the hours following the murders.
On Tuesday’s episode of Dr. Phil, "Murder in the Suburbs: Inside the SUV," see Clutter’s demonstration inside the SUV. And, hear what Gail and Pierre say. Check local listings to see where you can tune in.
