Mair Smyth is accused of being a con artist who would pose as an Irish heiress to a multimillion-dollar fortune, a psychic, a life coach, and a mortgage broker to extort in excess of $1 million from people all over the world.

Johnathan, Heather, and Tess all claim they are victims of Smyth’s endless lies, which eventually caught up with her and landed her in jail for grand theft in 2019. She was released in Dec 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Former Los Angeles District Attorney Michael Kraut, who says he has spent thousands of hours in courtrooms litigating cases similar to Smyth’s, shares insight into the mind of a con artist in the video above.

“It’s typically somebody who’s very personable, makes connections to somebody else who wants a connection with another person,” Kraut says. “They get their foot in the door, and that trust builds, and then the wallet opens.”

On Friday’s episode of Dr. Phil, "Exclusive: 'Queen of the Con,'"  hear what Johnathan, Heather, and Tess claim their interactions with Smyth were like. And, hear from Smyth’s daughter. Check local listings to see where you can tune in.
