Christian “Toby” Obumseli, 27, died after being stabbed by his girlfriend, Courtney Clenney. Clenney, a model and social media influencer, claims she was acting in self-defense. Police had been called to Clenney’s high-rise Miami apartment numerous times on domestic violence calls, and friends of the couple say the relationship was volatile.

A woman who wants to remain anonymous claims she and her boyfriend were friends with Obumseli and Clenney. She says they knew Obumseli as a bright and social young man, but claims once he met Courtney, things changed.

“In the beginning, they seemed very in love, and, you know, they were having a lot of fun,” the woman tells Dr. Phil on Thursday’s episode. “A few months in, it turned into something pretty dark.”
