Hacker With ‘Good Intentions’ Warns Man Of Vulnerable Smart Home Technology
Andy says when a hacker made himself known through his smart home devices says he wasn’t sure what to think.

“I was totally shocked,” he says. The hacker, Hank, says he’s an “independent security researcher” who just wanted to warn Andy that his password had been leaked and that his private information was vulnerable.

“I’ve never really considered hacking a bad thing. Especially warning people about it,” says Hank. He insists his aim is to warn people about vulnerabilities in their smart home technology, but he now regrets the way he went about it.
In the video above, Andy says he understands what Hank was trying to do, but he’s done with smart home devices.
And later, cybersecurity expert and “the world’s most famous hacker” Kevin Mitnick demonstrates some of the methods hackers use to access sensitive information.
