Mel says seeing herself on the Dr. Phil show was a real “wake-up” call for her. She says she knew she needed to lose a few pounds, but watching herself reinforced the reality.

She says using Dr. Phil’s book The 20/20 Diet, she’s lost 47 pounds in 17 weeks.

“We used to eat a lot of processed, easy-to-make food. I have cut all of that out,” Mel says.

Mel has also been working with personal trainer Robert Reames and using the Pear Personal Fitness Coach app.

When Mel appeared on Dr. Phil, she had just called off her wedding because she did not want to sign a prenuptial agreement that her fiancé, Ian, presented just weeks before they were supposed to walk down the aisle.
