‘I Was Hiding Hard,’ Child Who Survived Uvalde Shooting Tells News
On the morning of May 24, 2022, an 18-year-old walked on to the Robb Elementary School campus in Uvalde, Texas and allegedly started shooting with an AR-15. Before he was stopped, 19 students and two teachers were dead.
While much of the focus has been on the police response, the type of gun that was used, how the teen purchased the gun and ammunition – Dr. Phil reminds viewers that there’s another side to the story: the children who lost their lives -- and those who witnessed the tragedy.
A 10-year-old boy who survived the shooting was interviewed by KENS 5 Texas and shared what it was like to be in the classroom with the shooter – and how he tried to protect his friend. Hear what he said during the interview in the video above.
On Wednesday’s episode, Dr. Phil dedicates his platform to discussing how to stop these mass shootings from happening over and over. Learn what school shooters have in common, how you may be able to identify a possible shooter, and how to talk to your kids. Check local listings to see where you can watch.
