In June 2016, John Rinaldi went on trial in New York City after being accused of stalking and harassing actress Brooke Shields. After four days of witness testimony that included the actress and her husband taking the stand, the 49-year-old Rinaldi was found guilty and sentenced to 60 days in jail. He served just 28 days at New York’s Rikers Island before being released.
During his trial, John claimed – and maintains today – that he is “100 percent innocent” of the charges against him, and claims that Brooke Shields lied in court.

Rinaldi, who says he has been following Shields’ career for more than three decades and admits to several personal encounters with Shields and her family over the years, denies stalking or harassing the star. He says he views stalking as a criminal act, likening it to sexual assault and predatory behavior.
In the video above, Rinaldi states “I’m not the creepy-creepster stalker that they’re trying to make me out to be because I’m a child advocate and it goes against everything that I stand for.”
