On Feb. 13, 2017, best friends Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14, went for a hike on public trails in a wooded area just east of their hometown of Delphi, Indiana.
When the teenager’s families reported the pair missing to police
later that afternoon, authorities immediately mobilized a search. The teenagers’ bodies were found near the end of the trail system the following day. Their killer remains at-large. TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Are you involved in a story that has made the headlines?
Following the paths where the teenagers hiked on the day they were murdered,
Liberty’s grandfather, Mike Patty, says he spent weeks following the girls’ deaths “just scanning the woods and creek banks looking for clues, items – anything I could find that would possibly help catch this guy.”
In the video above, Mike stands on the Monan High Bridge, where Liberty and Abigail stopped to take pictures that afternoon, “Where the person who’s responsible for this walked out here and caught them isolated on the bridge, did what he did. Murdered our girls.”
Authorities say they’ve recovered critical photographic and video evidence from Liberty’s smartphone that they believe could lead them to identify a person of interest.
