Is Steven Avery’s Fiancée Worried For Her Safety Because Of His Past?
Lynn Hartman says after watching the Netflix series “Making A Murderer,” about Steven Avery who is now serving a life sentence for the 2005 murder of Wisconsin photographer Teresa Halbach, she felt compelled to write Avery a letter. She says the two began corresponding, eventually met in person and recently got engaged.
Hartman, who calls Avery “the sweetest little teddy bear,” says that she believes he is innocent and that the state of Wisconsin saw Avery as a “disposable person.”

Before Halbach’s murder, Avery was involved in other crimes that he doesn’t deny, including a few burglaries and charges related to burning a cat alive.
Avery’s ex-fiancée, Jodi Stachowski, has said she believes Avery killed Halbach and claims that Avery threatened to kill her, her family and a friend of hers. She also claims Avery beat her frequently and that she ate rat poison “just to get away from him.”
