Kathy was crowned Miss Michigan in 2019 but says she lost her title when officials told the self-identifying political conservative that comments she’d made on social media years prior had been deemed in violation of pageant rules.

Accused of tweeting racist and Islamophobic comments, which she adamantly denies, Kathy claims that since losing her crown she’s been targeted by others calling her intolerant and racist – and by people posting racist comments about her Asian heritage.

On Friday’s episode of Dr. Phil, Dr. Phil introduces Kathy to Muslim cultural advisor Rida Hamida, a native Californian, and co-founder of Latino and Muslim Unity and #IStandwithHijabis.

“You mentioned earlier that you have a target on your back for the things you said on social media,” says Rida to Kathy in the video above. “I have a target on my back just because I wear a hijab.” When Rida tells Kathy, “I want to give you an opportunity to learn from me as a Muslim,” how does Kathy respond?
