'It Happened Right Under Our Noses' Says Woman Who Claims She Didn’t Know Her Daughter Was On Drugs
Niki was smart, beautiful, and captain of her high school’s cheerleading squad. Then, in her freshman year at college, she tried heroin for the first time. Seven years later, she’s pregnant, living hand-to-mouth, and, according to her, shooting up five or six times every day.

“It’s a dire situation,” says Niki’s mom Sharon, who says she believes her daughter’s life is on the line.
When Dr. Phil asks how Niki fell into using drugs, Sharon says she doesn’t know, and she didn’t see it coming. “It happened right under our noses.”
But Niki’s sister, Sammantha, says that’s not true. She says she told her parents exactly what Niki was doing, and claims they didn’t believe her. “I begged them to listen to me, and they told me to shut up.”
Niki, who at eight months pregnant admits to shooting up about a gram of heroin every day, says she blames herself for the way she’s living now.
