Collette admits she sent upward of $200,000 to a man calling himself “Attorney Carlos” in Mexico City to try to secure $38,580 in settlement money he claims she is entitled to from a class-action suit involving the timeshare she owns in Cabo San Lucas. She says it’s been over two years since the man first contacted her, but she has yet to see any of the money she was promised.

Cindy says she fell victim to another type of timeshare scam and made payments for about a year before realizing she was being conned.

“It just really, really emotionally gets to you,” she says, describing the feelings she experienced.
