Now, Ashton says she suffers daily from the traumatic experience.

“I struggle with anxiety a lot right now, more than I ever have. I get anxious over some of the smallest things,” Ashton says. “My mom gets upset at me because she thinks I’m just being lazy, but I don’t think she understands that it’s because of my depression.”
Stacy says she doesn’t know how to help her daughter. “I feel a tremendous guilt as a parent that I endangered not only my life, but the safety of my children by allowing that person to even come into our lives,” she says.
