Shannon claims her husband, Alex, has become obsessed with his quest for enlightenment. She claims he is addicted to going on the internet and listening to the predictions and teachings of gurus, clairvoyants and aliens. And, she claims that because of his “spirituality quest,” he has neglected their family and lost $200,000 of their savings and the family business.
TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Conflict so big it needs a Dr. Phil solution?
“Alex’s gurus said that the economy was going to crash and gold and silver was the only currency that we would need. Alex immediately went out and invested $45,000 in gold and silver bullion from a company online, and he never received it. They went bankrupt,” Shannon claims. “When this happened, he never pursued getting any of it back and just chalked it up to negative karma, and that’s why he had to lose it.”
Alex insists he is enlightened and that he has answers to life’s greatest questions. He says he knows that “everything happens for a reason.” He also says his wife is a negative person who would rather be a victim and live in misery.
“There was a period of time when I did have sustained losses. It was perpetuating negativity for myself,” Alex explains.
“Instead of being enlightened, I feel like my husband’s more of a walking hypocrite,” Shannon declares.
