Sam is a skateboarder and a recent college graduate living in his van. He says he began having panic attacks as a teenager, his best friend died, and he developed a dependency on prescription medication. More recently, Sam, 24, says he suffered a head injury when he was thrown from a skateboard but claims the hospital did nothing for him.

Sam, who is unemployed, says, “I don’t think I can work with a head injury like this.” He says he wonders how he can remain positive “when traumatic events just keep repeating.”

On Tuesday’s episode of Dr. Phil, “The Rise of Victimhood Culture,” Dr. Phil also talks to Pastor James E. Ward Jr., founder of INSIGHT Church and author of “Zero Victim: Overcoming Injustice With a New Attitude” who says, “Even though victimization is inevitable, victimhood is optional.”
