Michael Peterson spent eight years in prison after he was convicted of killing his wife.

During an interview with Dr. Phil airing Tuesday, Peterson shares what he thinks is the worst thing about prison and why he wants to shine a light on the prison system in America.
“You would see so many guys just consumed and beaten down by prison,” Peterson says. “We should be thinking about rehabilitation, rather than making it terrible, because they’re going to come out worse than they went in. It was just the overwhelming awfulness of prison. It’s demeaning, de-humanizing experience.”
